Just Freaken Awesome!!!

Wow!!!! I can’t write a review with enough good adjectives to describe our curtains from Mesken. They arrived last week and we installed them over the weekend. It was a huge job but we managed and they look amazing. The fabric is such high quality, soft and luxurious but with a really nice weave that looks like linen but not as stiff. We got the room darkening lining and it’s perfect. The curtains are sturdy and strong and the ripple holds are super modern and elegant. I have to also comment about Chloe who really helped me with the order because I made a mistake on one measurement and she caught it before they went into production then made suggestions when our first choice of fabric wasn’t in stock. She was such a HUGE help. The fabric that she suggested is incredible and probably even better than the one we chose at first. We couldn’t be happier with our order and this company and I’ll be back to get more for some other projects. I’ve never installed my own curtains before and it’s not as hard as I thought it would be. The savings was well worth the time and effort and the product looks very expensive, which is another big plus. Thank you, Mesken, thank you, Chloe!!!

Impressive service and product

I ordered my custom curtains from Mesken after lots of comparison shopping: it’s so hard to find custom curtains like this that are made to my exact specifications, offer great quality fabrics (I wanted 100% linen and am picky about colors) and come at a non-astronomical price.
After placing my order I was even more positively surprised: service was prompt and thorough, my curtains arrived on time, they fit perfectly and look even more amazing ‘in the flesh’. My room has definitely gotten a real facelift and I’m so glad I chose Mesken for the whole experience!

A note on man-made fabrics

Most of us assume man-made fabrics are inferior to natural materials like cotton or linen. In fact, synthetic materials have advanced tremendously in recent years. In terms of look and feel, the synthetic fabrics we offer at Mesken are largely indistinguishable from natural ones.

Polyester and its variants have the advantage of being strong, durable, and resistant to mold and bacteria. There’s no need for dry cleaning and they’re less prone to wrinkling. Plus, they’re generally less expensive than cotton or linen.

Don’t get us wrong — we love our cotton and linen fabrics just as much. But our synthetic fabrics make great drapes that are not only stylish and practical but also more affordable.

Note on fullness for pleated and ripplefold drapes

Ripplefold and pleated drapes are made with the following built in fullness:

Ripplefold and 2-Pinch Pleat : 2x

3-pinch pleat and Euro Pleat: 2.5x

For example if the area you want to cover is 50 inches, we first recommend you add 10% to ensure ample coverage (55”). Then use the appropriate fullness above to calculate the fabric needed. If you’ve chosen 2-pinch pleat, 55"x2= 110”. This means we would use 110” of fabric to make a draoe with a finished width of 55”

Adding liners to sheer drapes

You’ve hit on the most controversial topic of the drapery world: Adding liners to sheer drapes. To some, it’s an absolute no go. To others, it’s no big deal at all. We’re of the mind that it’s generally not a preferred look. Since sheer fabrics are semi-transparent, your liner will be visible through the main fabric and take away from the texture.

If you’d like your drapes to provide full privacy, we’d recommend using a solid fabric in a similar color. You can always reach out to us at hello@meskenhome.com for suggestions.
