Do you offer design advice?

Absolutely! Feel free to send any questions and  photos of your space to hello@meskenhome.com and we will be glad to share our recommendation.

Drapes

Which drapery hanging styles do you offer?

We currently offer soft top, rod pocket, grommet, pleated and ripplefold drapes.

If you’d like us to add another style, let us know at hello@meskenhome.com

Do you offer free sample swatches?

Yes! You can use our Swatches page to order up to 5 swatches for free (or up to 30 swatches for a $10 deposit). You can also order swatches as you're browsing through our drapes: Simply select a fabric, choose a color and click "Order Free Swatch". If you’d like additional swatches, please get in touch with us at hello@meskenhome.com

What are the maximum dimensions of your drapes?

We can make your drapes as big as you want them! Seriously.

However, if your drapes are both wider and longer than 108" we'll need to use two fabric bolts, which means there'll be a vertical seam down the middle of your drapes. Shoot us a note at hello@meskenhome.com if you have any questions!

How do I hang soft top and pleated drapes?

Soft top and pleated drapes have a buckram tape with strips sewn on the back. You can use the strips to clip on your rings or the tape itself to attach drapery pins. Our measurements assume that you'll use the midpoint of the tape to hang your drapes with drapery pins but you can change that around if you want to create a puddle or hang your drapes an inch or so higher.

We recommend using a minimum of 7 rings per 50 inches of width. If you're using pins, attach one every 5-6 inches or so.

How wide are the pockets in your rod pocket drapes?

3 inches. If you'd like a different width, let us know at hello@meskenhome.com as soon as you place your order.

Why do pleated drapes use a lot of fabric?

Pleated drapes come with a minimum built-in fullness of 2x (2.5x for 3-pinch pleats) as the fabric is pinched and sewn together every few inches.

What is the difference between ripplefold and soft top styles?

Ripplefold drapes -also known as S-pleat drapes- use a snap-on tape to give your drapes a uniform wavelike shape. The track for your drapes will also have a built-in mechanism to move your drapery panels.

Can I use a liner with my sheer drapes?

We generally recommend not to. Sheer drapes are made from a semi-transparent fabric and is meant to give you some privacy while still allowing the sunlight. With a sheer-liner combination, the liner becomes visible and the visual texture of the sheer fabric is lost.

Shades

What type of shades do you offer?

We currently offer regular roller shades, 100% blackout shades, solar screens, zebra shades and roman shades. Roman shades are different from the rest as they are made with our drapery fabrics.

Solar screens are semi-transparent shades which provide privacy while letting in more light into the room. Zebra shades are made up of a double layer of alternating solid and transparent strips. The level of light passing through varies as you move the shade up and down. Check out the video posted with our Marais or Galata products to see them in action.

Do you offer free sample swatches?

Yes! You can use our Swatches page to order up to 5 swatches for free (or up to 30 for a $10 deposit). You can also order swatches as you're browsing through our shades: Simply select a fabric, choose a color and click "Order Free Swatch". If you’d like additional swatches, please get in touch with us at hello@meskenhome.com.

How do I install your shades?

Our shades are super easy to install, inside or above your window frame. We'll ship your order with all the necessary hardware and instructions. All you need is a drill and it takes a couple of screws per shade to get them up!

Will blackout shades make my room totally dark?

More like %99.99 :) Because of the mechanism the shades use, the actual fabric will be ~0.5 inches narrower than where you hung the shade. You can always put a blackout tape on the edges of your window to make it 100%.

Alternatively, if you want your shade to fully cover the window, you can always go with a roman shade where the fabric is actually flush with the headrail.

What is the maximum width of your shades?

Our shades can go up to 104" in width due to shipping constraints. However, in some cases we can go a little above that number. Shoot us a note at hello@meskenhome.com if you have any questions!

Do you make motorized shades?

Yes! You can add a motor to your shade in the "Control Customization" section after you select your fabric, color and enter your measurements.

Are your shades child-safe?

All of our shades ship with child safety cleats which you can use to wrap the extra cord.

Roman Shades

What type of shades do you offer?

Our roman shades currently come in four styles: Cascade, Aventura, Flat and Relaxed.

If you have a different style in mind, send us an email at hello@meskenhome.com and we'll do our best to accommodate it!

How are your roman shades different than your shades?

Even though they're both "shades", our roman shades have two distinguishing features: We use our curtain fabrics, and the rolling mechanism is a different one.

Do you offer free sample swatches?

Yes! You can use our Swatches page to order up to 5 swatches for free (or up to 30 for a $10 deposit). You can also order swatches as you're browsing through our roman shades: Simply select a fabric, choose a color and click "Order Free Swatch". If you’d like additional swatches, please get in touch with us at hello@meskenhome.com

Can I add liners to my roman shades?

We use the same liners for our curtains as well as our roman shades with one difference: Since the thermal liner is a thicker liner because of its insulating properties, it might not be a great fit for your roman shades.

Will a blackout roman shade make my room totally dark?

Yes! The roman shade mechanism is different from the shades as the fabric is as long as the mechanism itself and the casing is even narrower. So there will be a minimal gap if any between the window frame and your roman shade.

What is the maximum width of your roman shades?

Our roman shades can go up to 104" in width due to shipping constraints. However, in some cases we can go a little above that number. Shoot us a note at hello@meskenhome.com if you have any questions!

Do you make motorized roman shades?

Yes! You can add a motor to your shade in the "Control Customization" section after you select your fabric, color and enter your measurements.

Keep in mind that motorized roman shades need more window depth than manual roman shades.

Hardware

What type of hardware do you offer?

We sell Kirsch brand drapery rods, tracks and accessories.

We ship all drapes and shades either via UPS or USPS. Free samples ship for free with USPS Priority Mail (2-3 business days).

Do you accept returns?

* If there is anything at all wrong with your order, we will remake it on a priority basis and replace it at no cost.

* If you make a measurement mistake, we will still remake your order at no cost!

* If you find that you simply don't like what you ordered, we'll offer you 50% off and free shipping for a replacement. Keep in mind you can order 5 free fabric swatches. If you need more swatches before making up your mind, just let us know.

Pricing

How can your prices be so much lower than other brands?

We started Mesken with the specific goal of making high-quality custom drapes and shades as affordable as possible. We’ve built a super efficient supply chain and also avoided costs many other brands face like the expensive overhead of showrooms. We only offer a carefully curated selection of fabrics, which means we don't have high inventory costs.

What does “starting price” refer to?

Each of our products has a listed starting price which is based on a 40x80 inch drape (30x60 for shades). Your final price will depend on your measurements and customization options.
